Ever since Althea Technologies, Inc. licensed and optimized the Beckman multiplex PCR platform GeXP, it has been a valuable research tool and its use continues to spread throughout the scientific community.
Initially used in toxicology gene expression research to verify data obtained from other platforms (please see examples: Kramer et. al., 2003; Heinloth et al., 2004) it has become a valuable stand alone gene expression analysis technology which was showcased in a drug discovery toxicology study (Vansant et al., 2006), and its use is now quickly expanding to other fields including agriculture (Hayashi et al., 2007) and biomarker development (Chen et. al, 2007).
Its utility and value has been recognized and licensed by Beckman-Coulter who have obtained exclusive license from Althea for GeXP’s on capillary electrophoresis systems and is now available as the GeXP system, now an integral part of Beckman Coulters Genome Lab offering.
